Vehicles are Safer But Highway Death Toll is Up
Deaths rise faster than % increase in traffic.
A brief look at the data will tell you that cars are safer, but deaths in trucks & SUVs are up. Motorcycles are a higher % of the death rate than before. Is helmet usage down for motorcyclists? Indiana used to have a helmet law, but repealed it. Seatbelt use is up over 80% but 55% of those who died in an accident weren't wearing seatbelts. Do fewer truck drivers wear seat belts?
