Sonata Is underachieving on the Sales Floor
I saw a V6 Hyundai Sonata recently with an Enterprise rental car sticker, so I thought I'd check up & see how this much-hyped car is doing on the sales floor.
Hyundai had high hopes for its redesigned 2006 Sonata. So far Hyundai has only been able to make its sales quotas by selling 30% of its output to rental car agencies. Naturally this does not bode well for resale values.
Although the Sonata was priced competitively to start, a car salesman told me that his dealership was routinely selling Sonatas at invoice price, and the cars have had rebates of $1000 to $1500.
