From Zillow to Zestimate - A revolution in the Real Estate Industry?
A firm called Zillow.com is trying to change the real estate industry. From Walt Mossberg's column in the Wall Street Journal this morning the Zillow site (now in beta) allows the user to call up a photographic map of the neighborhood of interest and get quick estimates of the values of the homes there -- not just the homes for sale, but all of them. Users can get a "Zestimate" of homes they are looking for. CEO Richard Barton says that he wants to create tools that make real estate agents less important and make agent fees less expensive.
I tried looking at the Zillow.com site, but the site was down for maintenance when I checked.
