Toyota's 'Simple Slim' Cuts Engine Manufacturing Cost in Half
Bloomberg.com is reporting on Toyota's new manufacturing process that cuts the cost of manufacturing a V-6 engine from $2000 to $1000. Note: Toyota makes engines for most of its North American assembled products in the USA. GM has taken to importing a good portion of its V-6 engines from China. Ford makes its engines in the USA, but assembles its new mid-sized cars in Mexico.
