Company Town Relies on G.M. Long After Plants Have Closed - New York Times

NYT: Anderson Indiana - GM's Gone but the Checks Keep Coming

The New York Times today has a profile of Anderson,Indiana. This used to be a GM company town, but GM has closed all its facilities. A Delphi plant remains but is on the chopping block. GM retiree checks are currently the backbone of the economy. When the retirees have passed on, Anderson will either be a ghost town or a bedroom community for Indianapolis, 50 miles away.
