Chevy to Cap Impala production at 250,000 units
The Chevrolet Impala has been one of the few bright spots for General Motors. The Impala received a substantial refreshening for 2006 and sales have been strong. The Impala is one of the few GM models to have earned better than average reliability marks from Consumer Reports.
Automotive News, and its sister publication Autoweek, report that Chevrolet is going to attempt to cap production at 250,000 units per year to keep from flooding the market and thereby depressing residuals. We'll see if this discipline holds.
By the way, the Automotive News story on the web is subscriber only. Somebody should have told Autoweek where the story is available for free.
